Stratford Takes One on Chin
On Monday, Stratford traveled up to New Milford to start SWC league play versus the New Milford Green Wave, a perennial power when it comes to league play. Soph Blake Merfalen took the ball, went four innings, and was later relieved by Juniors Josh Tiberio & Elijah Jimenez. Stratford only mustered up 2 hits, a no hitter break up by Senior Ethan Hill (a perfectly executed bunt for a hit) & infield single by Junior Max Owen. Strikeouts piled up heavy for the road club, plus opponent’s bases on balls & Stratford’s miscues on defense led to the one-sided score. Stratford looks to bounce back on Wednesday afternoon when Masuk comes to town for a 4:15 tilt at Penders. With the favorable forecasted weather, there are hopes for a big afternoon crowd.
