Recap
Weston, CT — Stratford’s visit to Weston started in fine fashion with Junior Josh Tiberio doing his best to hold the opponents to no runs & Junior Evan Wendland coming through with two strikes & two outs to double down the LF line scoring Junior Xavier Lendof & Senior Ethan Hill. Lendof (2 hits), Hill (3 hits) & Wendland (2 hits) led Stratford’s hitting attack. Pitcher Tiberio deserved better but still left the game with a 2-2 score throwing 74 pitches in 4 full innings. Stratford scored two more runs - one on a wild pitch & the other on Junior Cody Gallant’s fielder’s choice. Soph Blake Merfalen took over for Tiberio in the 5th, 6th, & 7th innings, Stratford could not hold Weston down. They scored two in the bottom of the 6th by way of two singles out to LF with runners in scoring position. They walked off in the 7th after a single, stolen base, & a bunt play with a late cover of 1B which allowed the ball to get away leading to the winning run scoring easily. Stratford returns to action on Monday at 4:15 up at league rival Pomperaug.
