Recap
Stratford, CT — Kolbe Cathedral came to Penders Field today with energy & a desire to get even for Stratford’s 2024 win over them down at home Seaside Park. Kolbe pitched well, they made their plays (two of them big-time highlight & game saving plays) & they took advantage of Stratford High walks, errors & other miscues in the field for their 2025 bounce-back victory. Stratford’s lone run came by way of No. 2 hitter Senior Ethan Hill who with his legs manufactured Stratford’s lone run. Hill got on by a E-4, with no outs he stole 2nd, he then with a green light stole 3rd, and with a ball off the Kolbe 3B’s glove he scrambled, got up, & scampered home before the throw. That run evened things at 1-1. Stratford had a tough top of the 5th as the combined bug of bases on balls & throwing/fielding errors yielded Kolbe 5 more runs, all the runs they needed for a league win. Stratford was led at the plate by Junior Xavier Lendof (double), Soph Julian Rivera (double), & Sophs Jack Wiltsie & Brayan Fernandez (singles). Thursday - Stratford returns to action versus Pomperaug at 4:15. There’s a chance the game may be moved to Penders Field due to wet grounds up in Southbury. A decision will be made by 9:00 AM on Thursday.
