Rudyard, MI — Rudyard Varsity Bulldogs Fall After Strong Showing By Sacred Heart Academy

Rudyard Varsity Bulldogs had trouble keeping up with Sacred Heart Academy in an 11-3 loss on Saturday.
A single by Kyle Postma on an 0-2 count put Rudyard Varsity Bulldogs on the board in the top of the third.
In the bottom of the third inning, Sacred Heart Academy went back into the lead after Ryan Wiggins singled up the middle, Jason Boge doubled down the right field line, and Wiggins scored after tagging up, each scoring one run.
Sacred Heart Academy scored five runs on two hits in the bottom of the fifth inning. Nate Siler singled, scoring one run, Jackson Verleger grounded out, scoring one run, and Grady Pieratt hit an inside the park home run, scoring three runs.
Pieratt earned the win for Sacred Heart Academy. The reliever allowed four hits and one run over two innings, striking out two and walking one. Dalton Savoie took the loss for Rudyard Varsity Bulldogs. The starter went four innings, giving up five runs on eight hits, striking out none and walking four. Boge led things off on the hill for Sacred Heart Academy. The starting pitcher gave up one hit and zero runs over two innings, striking out two and walking one.
Rudyard Varsity Bulldogs tallied nine hits in the game. Ayden Pavlat led Rudyard Varsity Bulldogs with two runs batted in from the number seven spot in the lineup. The right fielder went 1-for-3 on the day. Tanner Baker went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Rudyard Varsity Bulldogs in hits.
Sacred Heart Academy piled up 11 hits in the game. Pieratt and Boge each collected three hits for Sacred Heart Academy. Pieratt led Sacred Heart Academy with four runs batted in. The shortstop went 3-for-5 on the day. Wiggins collected two hits for Sacred Heart Academy in four at bats. Sacred Heart Academy had patience at the plate, collecting seven walks for the game. Verleger and Noah Zeien led the team with two free passes each. Sacred Heart Academy were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Wyatt Browne made the most plays with seven.
