Alpena, MI — First-Inning Burst Enough To Lead Alpena Varsity Wildcats Past Rudyard Varsity Bulldogs By GameChanger Media Alpena Varsity Wildcats defeated Rudyard Varsity Bulldogs 15-0 on Thursday thanks in part to 10 runs in the first inning. Alpena Varsity Wildcats jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Cam Mcewen singled, scoring one run, Michael Kreis singled, scoring one run, Connor Cameron singled, scoring one run, Dalton Savoie induced Nathan Southard to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored, an error scored one run, Clark Weir singled, scoring one run, Mcewen drew a walk, scoring one run, and Jase Kollen doubled, scoring three runs. Alpena Varsity Wildcats added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Southard tripled to center field, Aidan Aube scored after tagging up, Brady Chapman tripled down the left field line, and Kollen singled down the right field line, each scoring one run. Cameron earned the win for Alpena Varsity Wildcats. The right-handed pitcher allowed four hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out six and walking none. Savoie took the loss for Rudyard Varsity Bulldogs. The starter went one and two-thirds innings, allowing 14 runs (seven earned) on 11 hits, striking out none and walking three. Levi Mayer set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading Rudyard Varsity Bulldogs with two hits in three at bats. Alpena Varsity Wildcats amassed 14 hits in the game.
