Caledonia, MI — Caledonia Fighting Scots (Freshmen) fell to Byron Center 8-4 on Wednesday. A ground out by Russell put Byron Center on the board in the top of the first. Byron Center committed an error, which helped Caledonia Fighting Scots (Freshmen) tie the game at one in the bottom of the first. Byron Center took the lead in the top of the second. Meyering was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, to give Byron Center the upper hand, 2-1. Byron Center scored five runs on four hits in the top of the third inning. An error scored two runs, Kloosterman singled, scoring one run, Meyering singled, scoring one run, and Evan Crater induced Belinski to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored. Belinski earned the win for Byron Center. The pitcher allowed three hits and four runs (zero earned) over five innings, striking out eight and walking two. Caleb Sheldon took the loss for Caledonia Fighting Scots (Freshmen). The righty went two and one-third innings, giving up seven runs (four earned) on six hits, striking out none and walking four.
