Caledonia, MI — Caledonia Fighting Scots (Varsity) had trouble keeping up with Gull Lake Varsity Blue Devils in a 12-1 loss on Friday. Gull Lake Varsity Blue Devils were the first to get on the board in the first when Parker Woodrow doubled, scoring three runs. Gull Lake Varsity Blue Devils added one run in the third. CJ Bennecke singled down the right field line, making the score 4-0. Gull Lake Varsity Blue Devils scored five runs on five hits in the top of the fifth inning. Jackson Duffie tripled, scoring three runs, Bennecke hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, and Max Markham singled, scoring one run. Aryn Taylor took the loss for Caledonia Fighting Scots (Varsity). The hurler went three innings, giving up four runs on five hits, striking out three and walking two. Kyle Rocco stepped on the mound first for Gull Lake Varsity Blue Devils. The starting pitcher allowed two hits and one run over three and one-third innings, striking out three and walking four. Jackson McNew and Ty Lewandowski each collected one hit for Caledonia Fighting Scots (Varsity). Gull Lake Varsity Blue Devils accumulated 12 hits in the game.
