Recap
La Jolla, CA — The Vikings and Patriots squared off in a city section match up on Friday night at Gene Edwards Stadium.
The Vikes rolled to a 52-14 victory behind Diehl who scored in almost every possible aspect of the game, taking back 2 INT for scores, a Punt return for a TD, a receiving TD and ending the night with a rushing TD.
La Jolla turned to Freshman Ty Tortorice who threw 3 TDs in the absence of Senior Hudson Smith. 2 of those touchdowns went to Junior Nicolas Bardaro who made the most of his opportunities, breaking tackles to find the end zone.
On Defense, Senior Charlie Martin led the charge and was everywhere on the field, terrorizing whomever had the ball with big hits and applying constant pressure. The defense swarmed all over the Patriots backfield tonight, giving very little running room for the Patriots who managed to score twice on short passes to their running back across the middle.
Next week the Vikes (1-1) take the Ship on the road as they head to face La Jolla Country Day (1-1) in a cross town match up.
