Oxford, MI — Bottom Of The Lineup Carries Adams Varsity Highlanders Past Oxford Varsity Wildcats By GameChanger Media The bottom of the lineup helped Adams Varsity Highlanders capture an 8-0 victory over Oxford Varsity Wildcats on Tuesday at Oxford High School. Mia Kahl, Mallory Colarossi, and Alexis Contreraz combined for five of the team's nine hits in the victory. They scored three runs and drove in one. Olivia Viazanko struck out 11 batters on the day. The righty also allowed six hits and zero runs over seven innings while walking none. Adams Varsity Highlanders opened the scoring in the first after Elle Moody homered to center field, scoring two runs. Adams Varsity Highlanders added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Colarossi laid down a sacrifice bunt, and Contreraz singled to left field, each scoring one run. Cavanaugh took the loss for Oxford Varsity Wildcats. The starting pitcher went two innings, surrendering four runs (three earned) on four hits, striking out two and walking one. Kahl and Contreraz each collected two hits for Adams Varsity Highlanders. Moody and Tenley Boughner each drove in two runs for Adams Varsity Highlanders. Madilynn Heller and Makayla Ganz each collected two hits for Oxford Varsity Wildcats. Adams Varsity Highlanders play at home on Wednesday against Chippewa Valley Varsity Big Reds in their next game.
