Tucson, AZ — Otero’s Big Bat and First-Inning Firepower Propel Lady Lancers Past Walden Grove, 8-1
Isabel Otero made her lone hit of the night count in a big way, driving in four runs to power the Salpointe Catholic Varsity Lady Lancers to an 8-1 victory over the Walden Grove Varsity Red Wolves on Tuesday. Otero’s clutch double in the second inning brought home two key runs and capped off an early offensive explosion.
Salpointe came out swinging, posting five runs in a dominant first inning. Brooke Wild drew a bases-loaded walk to get things started, followed by a two-run scoring error. Izzy Soto added an RBI single, and Peyton Green grounded out to bring in another run, giving the Lancers an early cushion.
Walden Grove scratched across their lone run in the top of the first after a hit-by-pitch with the bases loaded, but Salpointe quickly took control.
Kenzi Daley tacked on another insurance run in the third inning with a bases-loaded walk, extending the lead to 8-1.
Audri Elias was lights out on the mound, earning the win with a stellar performance—going six and one-third innings, allowing just two hits and one run while striking out seven and issuing no walks. Macee Jackson came on in relief to close things out.
At the plate, Leylani Cuesta led Salpointe with two hits in three at-bats. The Lady Lancers showed patience as well, drawing seven walks, with Molli Daley and Lilly Mann each reaching twice on free passes.
For Walden Grove, Isabel Higuera and Ariah Ramirez each notched a hit, while Oliviah Valdez drove in the team's only run.
With solid pitching, timely hitting, and disciplined at-bats, the Lady Lancers put together a complete team effort to secure the win.
