The highlight came in the third inning when Heuett launched a towering grand slam to center field, breaking the game wide open. The Cougars wasted no time getting on the board. In the opening frame, Addisyn Clark set the tone with a two-run blast to center, giving Show Low an early edge they’d never relinquish. Heuett was just as dominant from the circle as she was at the plate, going the distance with a five-inning, three-hit shutout. She fanned eight and didn’t issue a single walk in a lights-out performance. On the other side, Winslow’s Kyah Wilcox battled through four and a third innings, allowing 10 runs (eight earned) on 10 hits, striking out six and walking two. The Cougars’ offense was clicking, collecting 10 hits in total. Angelee Villa, batting seventh, led the charge with a perfect 3-for-3 outing. Winslow’s Kendra Ybarra was a bright spot for the Bulldogs, going 2-for-2 from the leadoff spot.
