Montrose, MI — Elle Moody Drives In 5 To Lead Adams Varsity Highlanders Past Hill-McCloy Varsity Rams

Elle Moody drove in five runs on two hits to lead Adams Varsity Highlanders past Hill-McCloy Varsity Rams 22-2 on Saturday. Moody singled in the fourth scoring two, doubled in the second scoring one, and hit a sacrifice fly in the third scoring one.
Adams Varsity Highlanders opened the scoring in the top of the first thanks to two singles. Adams Varsity Highlanders first got on the board when Alivia Cook singled, scoring two runs.
Adams Varsity Highlanders extended their early lead with two runs in the top of the second thanks to RBI doubles by Moody and Cook.
Adams Varsity Highlanders scored eight runs on five hits in the top of the third inning. Olivia Viazanko drew a walk, scoring one run, Moody hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, Cook singled, scoring one run, Alexis Contreraz drew a walk, scoring one run, Makenzie Grimes doubled, scoring three runs, and Mia Murphree doubled, scoring one run.
Adams Varsity Highlanders added eight more runs in the top of the fourth inning on four hits. An error scored one run, Cook hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, Contreraz homered to left field, scoring two runs, Stella Phillips singled, scoring two runs, and Moody singled, scoring two runs.
Lilley Lutzka earned the win for Adams Varsity Highlanders. The righty surrendered two hits and two runs over four innings, striking out seven and walking one. Kyla Deloney took the loss for Hill-McCloy Varsity Rams. The starter went four innings, allowing 22 runs (nine earned) on 14 hits, striking out two and walking nine.
Adams Varsity Highlanders accumulated 14 hits in the game. Cook led Adams Varsity Highlanders with three hits in three at bats. Grimes, Moody, and Cook each drove in five runs for Adams Varsity Highlanders. Lutzka collected two hits for Adams Varsity Highlanders in three at bats. Viazanko led Adams Varsity Highlanders with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, piling up nine walks for the game. Viazanko stole three bases. Adams Varsity Highlanders stole six bases in the game. Adams Varsity Highlanders were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Moody had the most chances in the field with eight.
Rachel Hillard went 1-for-2 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in. Caitlyn Thornburg and Hillard each collected one hit for Hill-McCloy Varsity Rams.
