Big Fourth Inning Leads Yuma Catholic Varsity Shamrocks Past Show Low Varsity Cougars

Yuma Catholic Varsity Shamrocks defeated Show Low Varsity Cougars 9-2 on Friday thanks in part to six runs in the fourth inning.
Yuma Catholic Varsity Shamrocks got on the board in the top of the first inning after Alondra Cordova walked, and Adayah Carrillo singled down the left field line, each scoring one run.
Riley Heuett hit a solo home run to right field in the bottom of the second for the Show Low Varsity Cougars.
Yuma Catholic Varsity Shamrocks scored six runs on five hits in the top of the fourth inning. Faith Donley drew a walk, scoring one run, Mailyn Milan singled, scoring one run, Kodi Leigh drew a walk, scoring one run, Mikaela Gonzales hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, and Cordova doubled, scoring two runs.
Cherish Trujillo earned the win for Yuma Catholic Varsity Shamrocks. The pitcher gave up three hits and two runs (one earned) over seven innings, striking out seven and walking one. Aspyn Clark pitched four innings in relief for Show Low Varsity Cougars. The reliever gave up four hits and one run while, striking out none and walking one. Heuett took the loss for Show Low Varsity Cougars. The starter went three innings, allowing two runs on four hits, striking out one and walking three.
Heuett went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. Heuett, Avery Ervien, and Ari Rivera each collected one hit for Show Low Varsity Cougars.
Yuma Catholic Varsity Shamrocks tallied 12 hits in the game. Cordova went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with four runs batted in. Kassandra Reynoso went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Yuma Catholic Varsity Shamrocks in hits. Donley collected two hits for Yuma Catholic Varsity Shamrocks in four at bats. Leigh led Yuma Catholic Varsity Shamrocks with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying six walks for the game. Donley stole two bases. Yuma Catholic Varsity Shamrocks stole five bases in the game.
