Westminster, SC — Looking for another win to add to their impressive season's start, Franklin County traveled across the border into South Carolina to take on the team from West Oak. Whatever could go wrong did go wrong in this battle. From a large collection of penalties, to an uncharacteristic amount of assignment confusion, the Lions created many of their own problems in this one. Touchdowns being called back, wide-open opportunities for points going unrealized, and some early struggles getting off of blocks... all of these set backs couldn't stop your Lions. A 17-play opening drive opened up a 7-0 lead that FC would never relinquish. A pick-six pushed the margin to 14-0. The remainder of the second quarter produced a 2-play scoring drive, a 1-play scoring drive, and a successful field goal try to give your team from Carnesville a 31-0 half-time lead. This score allowed the Lions to call the dogs off, and rotate in a lot of their younger players for some formative in-game experience. Over the next two quarters, West Oak managed their only score, and your Lions added another field goal. When the play clock hit 0:00, and the score went final, it was the away team who got to hit 85 and head home with a 34-7 victory. It wasn't pretty, but Franklin County did what good teams do... they won an ugly game and avoided a let-down. The Lions are ready to return to action this coming Friday, September 19th, 2025, at home against West Hall. As always, Coach Holland and the team invite you to attend the game, as they look to continue to 5-0!
