Skyview Varsity Hawks defeated Moscow Varsity Bears 5-4 on Saturday.
Moscow Varsity Bears opened the scoring in the top of the second thanks to two singles. Moscow Varsity Bears first got on the board when Connor Isakson singled, scoring one run.
Skyview Varsity Hawks made the score 5-3 in the bottom of the fourth after Trevan Plew drew a walk, scoring one run, and John Tyson singled, scoring two runs.
Tyson earned the win for Skyview Varsity Hawks. The southpaw allowed one hit and zero runs over two and one-third innings, striking out none and walking two. Wyatt Hartig took the loss for Moscow Varsity Bears. The hurler went three innings, surrendering five runs on four hits, striking out one and walking two. Killian Darney started the game for Skyview Varsity Hawks. The starting pitcher gave up four hits and three runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out none and walking one. Ledger Downs collected the save.
Number seven hitter, Aaron Vavold, showed the depth of Skyview Varsity Hawks's lineup, by leading them with two hits in three at bats. Tyson led Skyview Varsity Hawks with three runs batted in. The infielder went 1-for-2 on the day. Skyview Varsity Hawks stole five bases in the game. Skyview Varsity Hawks turned one double play in the game.
Andrew Hurley went 1-for-2 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in. Leadoff hitter Isakson led Moscow Varsity Bears with two hits in four at bats. Moscow Varsity Bears didn't commit a single error in the field. Simeon Rauch had the most chances in the field with five.
