South Pasadena, CA — Jolene Wu collected three hits in four at bats, as South Pasadena Varsity Tigers defeated Archer School for Girls Panthers 11-1 on Thursday. Wu doubled in the third inning, singled in the second inning, and singled in the sixth inning.
Archer School for Girls Panthers got on the board in the first inning after A Birstein singled, scoring one run.
Talula Bearden singled to center field, which helped South Pasadena Varsity Tigers tie the game at one in the bottom of the first.
South Pasadena Varsity Tigers captured the lead, 3-1, in the bottom of the second after Natalie Kan was struck by a pitch, and Adelaide Bertolina stole home, each scoring one run.
South Pasadena Varsity Tigers added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Emma Becerra grounded out, Wu doubled down the left field line, and Kan doubled to center field, each scoring one run.
Kan earned the win for South Pasadena Varsity Tigers. The pitcher allowed one hit and one run (zero earned) over six innings, striking out five and walking none. Birstein took the loss for Archer School for Girls Panthers. The starter went five and two-thirds innings, allowing 11 runs (eight earned) on 15 hits, striking out 11 and walking one.
South Pasadena Varsity Tigers collected 15 hits in the game. Kan and Wu each collected three hits for South Pasadena Varsity Tigers.
