Eastpointe, MI — The Center Line Panthers delivered a commanding performance Friday night, shutting out Eastpointe 46-0 in a big win that showcased playmakers on both sides of the ball.
Senior wide receiver Mark Nunn sparked the offense with three catches for 53 yards, including a 20-yard touchdown reception. Nunn also electrified the crowd with a 70-yard kickoff return touchdown, providing a momentum boost to open up the half.
Defensively, senior defensive back Anton Davenport was unstoppable. Davenport recovered a fumble for a touchdown, to give the Panthers their first score, returned a punt 35 yards for another score, and contributed 4 tackles, proving to be a game-changer in all phases.
In the run game, junior running back Masai Ali carried the load efficiently with 8 carries for 57 yards and two rushing touchdowns from 4 and 12 yards out. Junior athlete Darius Wallace added the exclamation point with a highlight-reel 83-yard touchdown run.
On defense, the Panthers set the tone with relentless pressure. Junior DB Varnell “Tank” McKinnon had an Interception and Senior linebacker Corday White led the way with 9 tackles, while senior linebacker Amarion Lyte added 4 tackles and 2 sacks, keeping Eastpointe’s offense bottled up all night.
The win brings Center Line to a 5-1 record on the season and brings them closer to their playoff hopes as they head down the final stretch of the season.
