Saint Clair Shores, MI — The Center Line Panthers continued their impressive season Friday night with a 41-24 victory over South Lake, moving to 6-1 — the program’s best start in over two decades.
Junior quarterback Matt Fizia led the offense with a balanced performance, completing 7 of 11 passes for 117 yards and 2 touchdowns, while also adding a 10-yard rushing score.
Fizia’s favorite target on the night was junior wide receiver Maleek Evans, who caught 5 passes for 66 yards, including a 35-yard touchdown strike. Senior receiver Corday White also made a major impact, hauling in a 35-yard touchdown and contributing heavily on defense with 10 tackles and a forced fumble.
The Panthers’ ground game was once again powered by junior running back Masai Ali, who carried the ball 26 times for 195 yards and a 5-yard touchdown run. Junior wide receiver Darius Wallace added versatility to the offense with 4 carries for 60 yards and a 10-yard touchdown rush, while also shining on defense with 5 tackles and an interception.
With the win, Center Line continues to build momentum heading into the final stretch of the regular season, showing strength on both sides of the ball and solidifying their place as one of the area’s most exciting teams to watch.
