Newtown Freshman Nighthawks were triumphant over New Fairfield 4-2 on Thursday.
Newtown Freshman Nighthawks were the first to get on the board in the first when an error scored one run.
Newtown Freshman Nighthawks added two runs in the second. Max Carta singled to center field, making the score 3-0.
Michael Murphy stepped on the bump first for Newtown Freshman Nighthawks. The righty allowed five hits and two runs over five innings, striking out three and walking four. Ivan De Melo opened the game for New Fairfield. The starting pitcher gave up six hits and four runs (zero earned) over six innings, striking out five and walking five. Max Carta tossed one and two-thirds innings of scoreless ball for Newtown Freshman Nighthawks in relief. The pitcher gave up zero hits, striking out two and walking two.
Max Carta, Chase Connell, Michael Murphy, Jacob Kelly, Marcus Burdo, and Eddie Deraney each collected one hit for Newtown Freshman Nighthawks.
