West Bloomfield, MI — West Bloomfield's Varsity Football Team hit the ground running to start the 2025 season; literally. Seven different Lakers combined for 37 carries and 244 yards rushing and two scores to help the team take control of the game early and never look back. QB Jaxson Carver also threw for 105 yards and 2 TDs. On the defensive side of the ball, the WB defensive line controlled the line of scrimmage in a dominating effort. Senior Joel Davis forced a second quarter fumble that was recovered by Ezekiel Davis and returned for a touchdown, helping the Lakers take a 28-0 halftime lead. West Bloomfield controlled the second half and was able to keep Fordson off the scoreboard, pitching a shutout in consecutive season openers. Leading rushers for the game were Seniors Obi Duru and Jamal Shakespear. The win starts the team's record at 1-0 as they look ahead to next week's game against Southfield A&T.
