Chino, CA — What better way to kick off a new season than with a statement win? The Laguna Beach Breakers did just that, storming into Chino High School and leaving with a commanding 45–7 victory that set the tone for what could be a big year. Junior quarterback Jack Hurst wasted no time lighting up the scoreboard, tossing four touchdown passes in a clinical performance. His favorite target of the night, Wyatt Bogdan, hauled in two of those scores — including a jaw-dropping 55-yard strike that silenced the home crowd. Hurst also spread the love, finding Brady Stringham and Jack Hooper in the end zone. The Breakers didn’t just dominate through the air. Freshman running back Charlie Christian turned on the jets for a 65-yard dash straight to paydirt, proving Laguna’s ground game is just as dangerous. And while the offense stole headlines, the defense set the tone. The Breakers forced three fumbles, pouncing on each one. None was bigger than Hooper’s scoop in the end zone, capping off a stellar two-way night for the senior. Chino was held scoreless until the fourth quarter, when they finally broke through for their lone touchdown. Laguna Beach leaves Chino with confidence brimming — and with a chance to build on their spectacular start when they host Santa Monica on August 29.
