Laguna Beach, CA — Laguna Beach wasted no time making a statement in their home opener, dismantling Santa Monica 42–0 on Friday night to stay unbeaten at 2–0. Junior quarterback Jack Hurst once again orchestrated the offense with poise, completing 19 of 27 passes for 212 yards and three touchdowns. He kept the Viking defense guessing, connecting with multiple targets to spread the damage around. Wyatt Bogdan once again proved to be a weapon, hauling in six catches for 86 yards and a score. Junior Will Kimball made his presence felt as well, finding the end zone twice on four receptions for 55 yards, while Brady Stringham added five catches for 59 yards to keep the chains moving. On the ground, freshman Charlie Christian continued to show his potential. Though only given seven carries, he punched in a rushing touchdown, finishing with 34 yards. The fireworks weren’t limited to the offense. Senior Jack Hooper electrified the home crowd early with a 95-yard kickoff return touchdown, and the defense was relentless all night, forcing five fumbles, snagging three interceptions, and holding Santa Monica completely off the scoreboard. From explosive special teams to a balanced offensive attack and a suffocating defense, the Breakers controlled every phase of the game. With momentum firmly on their side, Laguna Beach now turns its attention to a marquee home matchup against Tesoro on Friday, September 12.
