Allentown, PA — Whitehall Varsity Zephyrs were triumphant over Parkland 6-3 on Wednesday.
Whitehall Varsity Zephyrs opened the scoring in the third after Espinal doubled, scoring two runs.
Pinkham singled to center field following a 6-pitch at-bat, which helped Parkland tie the game at two in the bottom of the third.
Whitehall Varsity Zephyrs took the lead in the top of the fourth. A steal of home scored one run, to give Whitehall Varsity Zephyrs the edge, 3-2.
Flynt walked, which helped Parkland tie the game at three in the bottom of the sixth.
In the top of the eighth, Whitehall Varsity Zephyrs broke up the tie when Espinal singled, scoring one run. Then a double by Pagan followed to extend the lead to 6-3.
Laub earned the win for Whitehall Varsity Zephyrs. The starting pitcher surrendered five hits and three runs (one earned) over eight innings, striking out eight and walking two. Fritzinger took the loss for Parkland. The starter went eight innings, giving up six runs (three earned) on 11 hits, striking out two and walking one.
Whitehall Varsity Zephyrs accumulated 11 hits in the game. Espinal drove the middle of the lineup, leading Whitehall Varsity Zephyrs with three runs batted in. The catcher went 3-for-4 on the day. Laub and Pagan each collected multiple hits for Whitehall Varsity Zephyrs.
Pinkham went 2-for-4 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in. Parkland turned one double play in the game.
