Allentown, PA — It came down to the wire on Tuesday at Whitehall High School, as Whitehall Varsity Zephyrs grabbed the victory in walk-off fashion, 7-6, over Parkland. The game was tied at six in the bottom of the seventh when Hudak singled, scoring one run.
Laub collected four hits in four at bats in the win. Laub doubled in the third inning, doubled in the first inning, singled in the fifth inning, and singled in the seventh inning.
Parkland got on the board in the top of the first inning after Jenkins singled to center field, Chase tripled down the right field line, and Whitehall Varsity Zephyrs dropped a third strike, each scoring one run.
A single by Brawn extended the Parkland lead to 4-1 in the top of the third inning.
Whitehall Varsity Zephyrs took the lead in the bottom of the seventh inning after McFetridge singled to center field, Espinal walked, Rosario walked, and Hudak singled down the left field line, each scoring one run.
Laub earned the win for Whitehall Varsity Zephyrs. The hurler surrendered 14 hits and six runs (five earned) over seven innings, striking out four and walking none. Fritzinger took the loss for Parkland. The pitcher went six innings, surrendering seven runs on 12 hits, striking out three and walking three.
Whitehall Varsity Zephyrs piled up 12 hits in the game. Espinal and Shultz each collected multiple hits for Whitehall Varsity Zephyrs.
Parkland collected 14 hits in the game. Chase provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Parkland with two runs batted in. The outfielder went 3-for-4 on the day. Jenkins went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead Parkland in hits. Patel and Fritzinger each collected multiple hits for Parkland. Parkland were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Pinkham made the most plays with six.
