Medford, OR — By Jim McCoy The Cascade Christian Challenger girls take the "W" in their season opener against Illinois Valley. Though the team is small in number, the team is on talent. Coach Kaylene Brown reports: It was a very Cascade offense dominated game. Ginger Wine came off with a clean sheet in goal and only touched the ball once as our defense didn't allow the ball through. Sophomore Lindsey Hutcheson got the first goal in the 8th minute with an assist from sophomore Princess Lima. Four minutes later in the 12th minute senior Sienna Wilcox got our second goal with an assist from junior Gertie Wine. Along with these goals in the first half, Sienna, Lindsey, Princess, and Gertie all had shots on goal that were stopped by the Illinois Valley keeper. The second half was all about possession of the ball and the girls passed the ball around extremely well to maintain dominance over IV. Anna Gray had a shot on goal in the 42nd minute and our third goal was earned by Lindsey in the 44th minute with an assist from Emily Chavez.
