Chino Hills, CA — In their 2025 season opener, the Varsity Bearcats showed flashes of strong net play but ultimately fell short, losing in straight sets to the Huskies: 20–25, 13–25, 20–25. Junior standout #1 Kyra Amaya and Sophomore #22 Elle Howie made their presence known at the net, combining for six kills and several key plays that energized the team. Despite their efforts, the Bearcats struggled to find rhythm against a disciplined Huskies squad. The difference in the match came down to the Huskies’ effective service pressure and well-placed off-speed shots, which disrupted the Bearcats’ defensive flow and limited offensive opportunities. There’s little time to reflect, however, as the Bearcats turn their focus to their Home Opener on Thursday, August 14, at Ketterling Gym. First serve is set for 5:00 PM.
