Recap
Shelton, CT — For the second straight game, the Shelton High School Gaelettes came out firing, striking first in the opening period. Abby Texeira got Shelton on the board with an assist from Julia Lawrence.
The first half was a battle, but Shelton held the edge 1–0 at the break.
Sacred Heart applied heavy pressure in the third, but the Gaelettes stood tall. With just a minute left in the frame, Alexis Burrows buried a goal off a feed from Veronica Esteves to give Shelton some breathing room. Then, with three minutes to play, Texeira struck again on a feed from Lawrence to put the game away.
Goalie Scarlet Riccitelli and the backline of Maddy Mosher, McKenna Egan, Charlotte Hayslip, and Ketsia François locked down defensively, keeping Sacred Heart off the board for the shutout.
The Gaelettes (2–2) are back in action tomorrow morning at Immaculate in Danbury, 10 AM start.
