Warriors Route The Bulldogs 40-6 On The Road in Simi Valley
Warriors Mighty Mite 40, Simi Valley Bulldogs 6
Simi Valley, CA — The Santa Clarita Warriors faced off against long time legacy PYFL rival Simi Valley Bulldogs in Simi Valley. The Warriors prevailed riding on the backs of the two headed backfield they already knew they had.
The game started off with a kickoff return by #23 Jonathan Parra. It was the last time the kick return team was on the field Saturday as the Warriors were up 40-0 when the referees called mercy rule. #68 Jace Klar shined as the kicker for the Warriors. After taking some time in practice to learn how to kick from Senior Warrior's kicker, Adrian, every kick was exactly where he wanted to place it. He also had a monster solo tackle after he kicked it right to a kid.
The offense was too hot to handle for the Bulldogs. #34 Levi Bradshaw scored off a power play on the right side on the first play of the game from 49 out. He did the same thing on the following possession. Bradshaw ended the day with 174 yards on 5 carries with 3 TDs. Once the Bulldogs had a chance to see out lightening back, the thunder came. Fullback Jace Klar ran hard, at, and through the defensive front. He scored on a 71 yard dive play, a 4 yard dive, and a 52 yard trap play where #84 Brantley de Armero pulled from the backside gaurd spot - it was next level. #22 Dylan Fruchtman managed the game well from Quarterback. He cleaned up the pitch play and everything was in sync for the Warriors Offense Saturday. Santa Clarita finished the day with 334 yards and 6 TDs with some key blocks from #38 Sjoberg, #20 Knott, #64 Barboza, and #19 Hambrick.
As impressive as the Offense was the Defense may have been even more so. The Bulldogs ran one formation all game and once a few adjustments were made it was clear that Simi Valley stood no chance. They tried passing a lot with #18 Luna and the Warriors Defense responded well considering it wasn't something they had faced much of yet. The tackles for loss would be long to list. #24 Dylan Winkler recorded 2 big tackles for loss and a sack for a lot of negative yardage. #19 Jaden Hambrick recoded 2 tackles at safety, but he was the last guy to beat and they were TD saving. The linebackers for the Warriors; Bradshaw, Knott, and Fruchtman all had solid games and contributed to a lot of the team defense played out there. #11 Cam Balestier proved to be a shutdown corner in the making. # 68 Jace Klar flashed just as bright on defense as he did on offense with 7 solo tackles, 1 assisted tackle, and 4 tackles for loss. They realized he was scary and started to run to the other side. Long story short the Warriors held the Bulldogs to 3 YARDS.
The young men of the Santa Clarita Warriors are celebrating this victory, but are ready to shift their focus to the difficult opponent in the SC Grizzlies (2-0) next Saturday.
