Canyon Country, CA — The Santa Clarita Warriors (5-2) showed total dominance over the Newbury Park Steelers (3-4) on Saturday at Canyon High School. The Warriors offense is looking back on track. Jace led the way lead blocking and all three of our TD scorers on the day; Dylan Fruchtman #22, Levi Bradshaw #34, and Josh Jefferson#18 scored following him to the end zone. The offensive line showed that they know how to fire off the ball and block downfield. NP had some Big linemen and our below average gritty O line didn’t bad an eye. Johnny Barboza #64. Dylan Fruchtman showed that he can control the offense and he also his longest run of the season at 35 yards as well as a score on a tush push style play that we call Smash. Levi Bradshaw showed his great vision and get away speed by also bouncing off tackles. Josh Jefferson got some of his first opportunities of the season. His first carry of the game went for 25 where he then punched it in from short to score. While the offense was on track, the defense was the star of the game. Newbury Park had (-61) yards of total offense. Santa Clarita’s defense was physical, fast, and played downhill all game. The LB crew of Roman, Dylan F, and Josh flowed perfectly and made a lot of tackles in the backfield. The interior D line of Devin, Hayden, Nicholas, and Dom penetrated into the backfield every play. Dom had his first tackle of the season so he decided to get off of two separate blocks to make the tackle 6 yards in the backfield. The secondary dropped in coverage well and Jaden broke on every ball making it impossible to complete a pass. Jace had a solid game on the edge and Levi’s speed completely shut down the right side of the NP offense. Overall the Warriors are looking like peak form as we are one more week away from the playoffs. While there is logjam in the middle of the standings for the 5-8 seed; the Warriors have secured the #3 seed and plan to dominate whoever they get to play in the first round. This week we have an old friend of a team in the Fillmore Raiders (silver) as they were the only team the first year Warriors beat in the 2024 season. This year the Warriors plan to have the same outcome. On to Fillmore and full speed ahead. - Coach Mike Fruchtman
