Phoenix, AZ — Flagstaff hit the road for their season opener on Wednesday—but they made the long trip count. The Eagles came out firing and never let up, cruising to a dominant 3-0 sweep over the Thunderbird Titans. It marked their most decisive win over Thunderbird since October 6, 2015. The Eagles made quick work of the match with set scores of 25-12, 25-15, and 25-19, flexing their strength across the board and setting an early tone for their season. Even in the loss, Thunderbird had a bright spot in senior Ema-Lee Burke. The defensive specialist continued her hot streak with 13 digs and two assists, making it three straight matches with 13 or more digs dating back to last season. Looking ahead, Flagstaff won’t have long to rest—they’re back in action Thursday at 6:00 p.m. against Arcadia. Thunderbird will also look to rebound quickly when they face Eastmark at the same time.
