La Verne, CA — Following a hard-fought, high-energy loss to San Dimas, the Bearcats volleyball team quickly regrouped and refocused for their next challenge—a defensively strong Chino High School squad. The match began with a dominant statement from the Bearcats, who cruised to a 25-12 victory in the opening set. However, the momentum didn’t carry over as smoothly as expected. Chino tightened up their defense, forcing the Bearcats to battle through a tense second set. Despite some unforced errors and difficulties keeping the ball in play, the Bearcats managed to edge out the win. The third set mirrored the second in intensity, but clutch performances from junior Madison Van Duyne and sophomore Elle Howie, who delivered a series of timely kills, helped the Bearcats pull away late and seal the sweep. With the win, the Bearcats improve their record to 4-3 and look ahead to their next matchup: a home game against Don Lugo, scheduled for Thursday, August 28 at 4:30 p.m.
