New Buffalo, MI — Bangor Wins Thrilling Game at River Valley 38-34 The Bangor Middle School football team traveled to River Valley to play the combination team of New Buffalo and River Valley Middle Schools. The Raiders came out strong and got a 34 to 14 lead in the 3rd quarter before the Vikings defense clamped down and the offense took off, taking a 38 to 34 lead late in the game. The Raiders then drove down to the Bangor 1 yard line with 4 seconds left, a great effort by the goal line defense led by Ben Loomis, Noah Atkinson, Joshua Fitzner, Victor Velesco and Eduardo Gamino stopped them just short of the goal as time ran out giving the Vikings the victory. Gavin Flagel starred on offense, rushing for 249 yards and 4 touchdowns, helped out by Davonte Johnson's 35 yards rushing and a completion from Anthony Aguirre to NateO'Flynn-Goodman for a 25 yard TD. Victor Velesco had a big interception in the second half to keep us in the game. The team ended the season with 3 wins and 3 loses, playing their best at the end of the season. I would like to thank all the fans who made the trek to River Valley, your support is greatly appreciated. Coach Green and myself would like to wish all the 8th graders good luck as they move on to High School next year, and hope they keep playing at the next level, as they have shown great potential.
