Lake Orion, MI — For the first time this season, the West Bloomfield Lakers played on the road, taking an undefeated record north to Lake Orion High School. Despite a mistake plagued first half, the Lakers went to the locker room with a 13-10 lead before exploding in the 3rd quarter to the tune of 20 unanswered points en route to a 33-16 road victory. The defense again stepped up, only allowing 10 points until the last play of the game, despite Lake Orion starting several possessions deep in West Bloomfield territory. Through four games the Laker defense has only allowed a total of 24 points. Offensively, the Laker rushing attack was lead by a trio of Obi Duru, Jamal Shakespear, and Will Espy who combined for 139 yards on 20 carries and 4 TDs. Duru also had a long kick return for a special teams unit that also saw Senior Kaliq Robinson return a punt for a score. The win brings West Bloomfield's record to 4-0 and 2-0 in the ever competitive OAA Red. The Lakers return home next week to face Birmingham Groves in an OAA Crossover game.
