Huntingdon, PA — By Ty States - Huntingdon Daily News, Sports Writer Huntingdon controlled the match against visiting Philipsburg-Osceola on Tuesday. Liam Norris had a goal and an assist in a 3-1 win for the Bearcats. The Cats (4-2) have won three of their last four outings. Against the Monties (0-5). These teams tied 0-0 in the last two contests, and Huntigndon was 0-1-3 in the last four meetings. "We are a very good possession team. We were attacking the whole game," said Huntingdon head coach Jason Morris. "We controlled this whole game." Norris leads the team with six goals. Ajay Kowalski notched his fifth goal of the season, Tyler Zauzig scored, and Asher Powell had an assist. Huntingdon is down one starter with an injury that will keep David Phillips out of the lineup the rest of the year. Morris still ran his players in and out as Huntingdon stayed on its attacking side of the field most of the night. The Mounties did see some counterattacks, but Davien Wise at goalkeeper and Huntingdon's defense fought off those scoring chances. Kowalski and Jett Zolnoski had shots in the first half. Then Powell made the pass that led to Kowalski scoring for a 1-0 lead with 12 minutes to go before the break. Philipsburg had a couple of corner kicks to start the second half and then broke through to the game. Sawyer Sites scored the first goal of the season for the Mounties. Huntingdon immediately came right back down the field. Just 18 seconds later, the Bearcats went back in front 2-1. Norris created the chance down the left side and knocked the ball home. Both teams' intensity and physicality picked up after those two goals. A nice play by Zolnoski and Zauzig led to a penalty kick for the Bearcats. Zolnoski's shot was saved. Huntingdon took a 3-2 lead after Norris sent Zauzig up the field, and he chipped the ball over the top of the keeper for a very nice-looking goal. Junior High Huntingdon's junior high squad picked up its first win of the year at Philipsburg Tuesday, 6-1. Ben Schonberg and Davey Long each scored a pair of goals, while Trevor Wilson and Dominic Thebaud also scored. Long added an assist, with Reis Bennett and Michael Davis also tallying an assist. Reese Cramer had a save in goal in the first half, with John Valle making two saves in the second.
