East Moline, IL — It was a commanding Western Big 6 win for the Galesburg girls basketball team as they traveled to United Township on a snowy Saturday morning and came away with a 62 - 17 victory over the Panthers. The Silver Streaks are now 9 - 1 on the season and 4 - 1 in conference play. A pair of sophomores led the way in scoring for Galesburg with Zaniyah Carter scoring 16 points and Ellie Johnson finished with 15 points. Both Lily Furrow and Ella Herchenroder scored 8 points, Taylor Herchenroder put up 5 points, and Jozalyn Kilgore finished with 4 points. Overall, the Streaks shot 25 of 58 from the field, 8 of 24 from three-point range, and 4 of 6 from the free-throw line. They grabbed 25 rebounds, had 11 assists, and committed only 7 turnovers while forcing 32 turnovers for United Township. With her game off the bench, scoring in each quarter and stepped up doing a little bit of everything, Ellie Johnson was named the Dave's Auto Body Crunch Time Player of the Game.
