Mountaineers Erupt for 4 Goals in the Third - Win 6 - 1 Over Andover

Caden Lane and Kevin Shaw were named Players of the Game by their teammates. Caden scored a goal and added two assists while Kevin made 17 saves in the 6-1 win over Andover.
Tewksbury, MA — Wachusett traveled out to the Breakaway Ice Center in Tewksbury tonight to take on Andover in a Division I matchup. The Mountaineers scored 4 times in the third period to walk away with a 6-1 win.
Cody Penniman got the scoring started at 2:24 of the first period as he raced down the right side and wristed a shot in the low left corner. Ryan Flaherty earned the assist. The score would stay 1-0 into the first intermission.
Caden Lane would score the only goal of the second period at the 1:24 mark. Linemates Brayden Allaire and Matt Brousseau both assisted as they gained possession in the corner. From there Caden walked out around the goalie and stuffed it home.
Entering the third period up 2-0, Wachusett did not waste any time extending their lead. Just 21 seconds in, Ryan Flaherty carried the puck around the defenseman on the right side and he fed the puck to Cody Penniman in the high slot who banged it home. Just 45 seconds later, Matt Brousseau found the back of the net to extend the lead to 4-0. Caden Lane and Ethan Bennett assisted on the goal.
Brayden Allaire scored the prettiest goal of the night to make it a 5-0 game. Allaire entered the zone on a 2 on 1 break. He slid the puck over to Lane who slid it back to Brayden who buried it in the open side of the net. Colin Carlson was also credited with an assist.
Andover would score at 6:10 to make it 5-1 but Wachusett would keep the pressure on. Senior Zach Hoadley scored his first goal of the season at 14:11. Sophomore Lucas Brousseau assisted the goal.
Kevin Shaw earned the win in net making 17 saves. The team is now 9-1-1 on the season and will play at Grafton on Wednesday afternoon at 4 pm at the Buffone Rink on Lake Ave.
