South Amboy, NJ — The Sayreville Bombers boys basketball team delivered a statement win today, pulling away in the fourth quarter to defeat Oratory Prep 75–64 at the Friends of South Amboy Showcase, hosted at South Amboy High School. Oratory Prep came out firing in the opening quarter, jumping to a 24–19 lead behind strong perimeter shooting and early tempo. Sayreville responded with poise in the second quarter, tightening up defensively and finding their rhythm on offense. An 18–10 Bombers advantage in the period flipped the game, sending Sayreville into halftime with a slim 37–34 lead. The third quarter stayed competitive, with both teams trading baskets. Sayreville edged Oratory Prep 16–15 in the frame, setting the stage for a decisive final eight minutes. That’s when the Bombers took control. Fueled by defensive pressure, unselfish ball movement, and clutch shot-making, Sayreville dominated the fourth quarter 22–13 to seal the 75–64 victory. Senior guard Sam Jones led all scorers with a brilliant 33-point performance, consistently answering Oratory Prep runs and delivering timely baskets when the Bombers needed them most. Chidi Chukwurah was a force on both ends of the floor, stuffing the stat sheet with 29 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 steals, providing energy, toughness, and game-changing plays throughout the night. Supporting contributions came from across the roster. Ziyan Jones added 6 points, while Andrew Provenza chipped in with 5 points and a strong effort on the glass, grabbing 7 rebounds.
