Bombers Pull Away Late to Defeat Donovan Catholic in Jimmy V Showcase

Bayville, NJ — Sayreville closed the Jimmy V Showcase with an impressive 77–59 victory over Donovan Catholic on the campus of Central Regional High School, using a dominant second quarter and a strong finish to secure the win.
Donovan Catholic jumped out early, taking a 20–17 lead after the first quarter. Sayreville quickly shifted the momentum in the second quarter, putting together a decisive run fueled by defensive intensity and efficient offense. The Bombers overwhelmed Donovan Catholic 24–5 in the period, turning a three-point deficit into a commanding halftime advantage.
The game tightened in the third quarter as Donovan Catholic made a push, outscoring Sayreville 19–11 to cut into the lead. However, the Bombers responded with poise and composure in the fourth quarter, closing the game in emphatic fashion with a 25–12 edge to put the contest away.
Chidi Chukwurah led the way with 25 points and was named Bombers MVP of the game for his performance on both ends of the floor. Sam Jones added 22 points, while Ziyan Jones chipped in 20 points to give Sayreville balanced scoring throughout the lineup. Andrew Provenza controlled the glass with 13 rebounds, and JC Lewis directed the offense with nine assists.
The win highlighted Sayreville’s ability to respond to adversity and finish strong, making it a memorable performance on the Jimmy V Showcase stage.
