CA — The @jserra.boysvolleyball team put forth a spirited performance against Trinity League rival Santa Margarita on Wednesday, but the Eagles secured a 25-12, 30-28, 23-25, 25-15 victory at JSerra Catholic High School. Santa Margarita opened with a strong opening set victory, but the Lions fought impressively over the next two sets. JSerra trailed by five points midway into the second set, but rallied back and had two set point opportunities, but the Eagles survived and secured a two-point set win. The Lions hard-nosed effort yielded a third set win, as the two teams were tied at 21-21 before JSerra won four of the final six points to cut the match deficit in half. The Lions were within two points early in the fourth set before the Eagles seized control with seven straight points to help clinch the match victory. Junior Kevin O’Hara supplied a team-best 18 kills, while junior Trey Assad added 17 kills.
