The team showed tremendous resilience and balanced scoring throughout the contest, overcoming multiple lead changes to secure the victory away from home. The first quarter featured five lead changes as both teams traded baskets early. Gunnar Myers got Waverly going with his aggressive play, scoring 8 points in the opening frame while shooting an efficient 4-for-7 from the field for the game. After trailing 15-14 at the end of the first quarter, Waverly exploded in the second period behind the dominant play of Kage Alexander, who began his spectacular scoring outburst. Alexander caught fire with 9 points in the quarter, including a three-pointer that helped fuel a decisive 19-5 run.
