Collinsville Varsity Kahoks Fall To Jersey After Surrendering Big Second Inning

Jerseyville, IL — Jersey defeated Collinsville Varsity Kahoks 11-0 on Saturday thanks in part to six runs in the second inning.
Jersey got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Kribs singled, scoring one run, and Drainer doubled, scoring two runs.
Jersey scored six runs on five hits in the bottom of the second inning. Derrick singled, scoring one run, Kribs tripled, scoring two runs, Weirich singled, scoring one run, Brainerd singled, scoring one run, and Cazier singled, scoring one run.
Drainer homered to left field, scoring two runs in the bottom of the fourth for the Jersey.
Weirich earned the win for Jersey. The hurler allowed three hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out nine and walking none. Bordoni took the loss for Collinsville Varsity Kahoks. The starter went two innings, surrendering nine runs (six earned) on nine hits, striking out three and walking one.
Trice led Collinsville Varsity Kahoks with two hits in two at bats.
Jersey collected 11 hits in the game. Drainer went 2-for-3 at the plate and led the team with four runs batted in. Weirich went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Jersey in hits. Kribs and Derrick each collected multiple hits for Jersey. Derrick stole three bases. Jersey stole five bases in the game.
Jersey were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Wilkinson made the most plays with 10.
Collinsville Varsity Kahoks will travel to Father McGivney Catholic for their next game on Monday.
