Carterville, IL — Carterville took care of business in their home opener on Wednesday. They blew past the Frankfort Redbirds 11-1. Taryn Ford made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Ford was even better at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. In other batting news, the Lady Lions relied heavily on Savannah Gibbs, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. Another player making a difference was Lainey Workman, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI. Carterville posted a team batting average of .440 for the game.
