Mountain View, AR — Riverview scored four runs in the 4th inning to take a 5-1 lead and then held off a furious rally in the bottom of the 7th to hang on to a 5-4 victory over Mountain View Tuesday night.
A hit batter and wild pitch allowed Mountain View to take an early 1-0 in the bottom of the first inning.
Riverview would tie it in the top of the second inning after a Layton Miller double scored Will Hicks.
In the top of the fourth, the Raiders broke the tie when Shannon Moore drew a bases loaded walk, scoring Hicks. The next batter, Kyrin Powers followed with a double to right field to clear the bases and extend the lead to 5-1.
Mountain View made things interesting in the bottom of the seventh when they scored three runs on three hits and two walks before Jace Boyd came in and got a line out double play to Dane Clegg to end the game.
Miller earned the win for Riverview. The starter gave up two hits and one run over four innings, striking out two and walking three. Kyson Owens took the loss for Mountain View, going three innings, surrendering two runs (one earned) on three hits, striking out two and walking two.
Boyd collected the save. Powers appeared in relief for Riverview, throwing two and a third innings and giving up three runs on five hits, while striking out two .
Miller led the Raiders at the plate with a 3-for-4 afternoon. Powers finished with two hits and three RBIS, while Hicks had two hits and two runs scored.
The Raiders will be back in action Thursday afternoon at Little Rock Parkview
