Carlsbad, CA — Sofia Tillis threw a shutout to lead Carlsbad Varsity Lancers past La Costa Canyon Varsity Mavericks 5-0 on Wednesday at 1 Maverick Way. A solo home run to right field by Gabriela Nevarez following a 6-pitch at-bat put Carlsbad Varsity Lancers on the board in the top of the third. Carlsbad Varsity Lancers added four more runs in the top of the seventh inning on three hits. Reagan Biggie doubled, scoring one run, and Autumn Muro homered to center field, scoring three runs. Addie Brown took the loss for La Costa Canyon Varsity Mavericks. The pitcher went seven innings, allowing five runs on seven hits, striking out 11 and walking none. Muro led Carlsbad Varsity Lancers with three runs batted in from the number nine spot in the lineup. The shortstop went 1-for-3 on the day.
