Cedar Springs, MI — The Greenville Yellow Jackets faced a tough test today against the talented Cedar Springs Red Hawks who made it to District finals last year and lost in OT. Knowing this would be a defensive battle, the Yellow Jackets stood in for the first half, holding the Red Hawks to 4 goals, rising above their performances from the previous season. Strong defensive performances stood out on Greenville's back line, with the junior captain Clare Dailey and senior captain Ava Lamar putting up a strong, physical stance against a fast and dangerous Red Hawk's team. Sophomore standout Kendall Francisco executed many key tackles and was very effective at countering the fast and effective front line of the Red Hawks, helping lead the Yellow Jackets to hold the Red Hawks scoreless for almost 25 minutes in the middle of the game.
