Oakland, CA — The Sac High girls hit the road again to take on another strong opponent. In a game featuring two of the top teams in Northern California, #6 ranked Heritage jumped out to a 10-0 lead to open the game. Assistant Coach Quenese Davis quickly called a timeout, ripped the team for a good 10 seconds, then made them run lines for the remainder of the timeout. Full court, and yes, that really happened. Coming out of the timeout, the Lady Dragons played with a renewed focus and energy, closing the gap by the end of the quarter to 14-8, and trailing 27-23 going into the half. After halftime, the Lady Dragons, gave up an easy bucket, then scored the next 11 points, grabbing a lead they would never relinquish the rest of the game. Down the stretch with Sacramento clinging to a 48-42 lead with 15 seconds to play things got hairy as the Lady Dragons allowed a 4 point play, to cut the lead to 48-46. After hitting 2 free throws with 4 seconds to go to take a 50-46 lead, Sacramento fouled on a desperation 3 pointer from 40 feet out with 0.3 seconds on the clock. Heritage proceeded hit the first 2 of 3 free throws, before missing the final attempt intentionally with hopes of getting off a last second shot. The Lady Dragons rebounded the miss, which put the wraps on a hard fought come from behind 50-48 win for the girls from Oak Park.
