San Juan Capistrano, CA — The @jserrahoops Boys Basketball team produced its’ best offensive game of the season on Friday and the reward was a CIF-SS title game berth, as the Lions ran past the Inglewood Sentinels 103-91 in a CIF-SS Division 1 semifinals game at JSerra Catholic High School. JSerra totaled a season-high in points and has won five straight games to improve to 23-12 overall on the season. The Lions will tangle with the Crean Lutheran Saints in the Division 1 title game next weekend, as the Saints defeated Rancho Christian 67-55 in Division 1's other semifinal game. Inglewood jumped out to an early seven-point lead in the first quarter, but the Lions offense soon found its gear and powered to life. Senior Jaden Bailes tallied 10 of his 12 first quarter points inside the final two minutes of the period to helped propel the Lions to a 26-23 lead. Bailes continued to find the shooting stroke early in the second quarter, connecting on three straight shots from behind the arc. Sophomore Ryan Doane also enjoyed a dominant quarter, hitting all six of his shots, as the Lions surged out to a 61-47 halftime advantage. Doane and junior Godschoice Eboigbodin continued their low-post dominance in the third quarter, each scoring eight points apiece, as the Lions took an 81-71 lead into the final period. Bailes, Doane, and Eboigbdoin combined for 18 points in the final period, as the Lions put the game away down the stretch to punch its championship ticket. Doane finished with a team-high 33 points (on 15-of-23 shooting) and a team-best 16 rebounds. Bailes nearly produced a triple-double, finishing with 32 points, nine assists, and eight rebounds. Eboigbodin also recorded a double-double, talling 19 points and grabbing 15 rebounds. Junior Earl Bryson finished with 11 points and five assists.
