Johnsburg, IL — The Zee-Bees fell to Johnsburg Varsity Skyhawks 4-3 on Monday at Johnsburg High School.
The Zee-Bees got on the board in the top of the first inning after Monchie Gunter V walked, scoring Sam Villarreal and Brayden Duran scored on a passed ball.
An error gave Johnsburg Varsity Skyhawks the lead, 3-2, in the bottom of the fifth.
Michael Gonzalez took the loss for Zion-Benton Varsity Zee-Bees. The starting pitcher went five innings, allowing three runs (zero earned) on five hits, striking out eight and walking two.
Gunter V drove the middle of the lineup, leading Zion-Benton Varsity Zee-Bees with two runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Jake Mitchell, Zion-Benton Varsity Zee-Bees's number nine hitter, led the team with two hits in three at-bats. The Zee-Bees turned one double play in the game.
The Zee-Bees will travel to Elgin Varsity Maroons for their next game on Tuesday.
