Wheaton, IL — The Zee-Bees fell 7-3 to Hoffman Estates on Wednesday at Lee Pfund Stadium despite out-hitting them seven to six. Brayden Graham led Zion-Benton Varsity Zee-Bees with two hits.
The Zee-Bees jumped back into the lead in the top of the fifth inning after Andrew Mitchell grounded into a fielder's choice, Brayden Duran hit a sacrifice fly, and Michael Gonzalez singled to the left side of the infield, each scoring one run.
The Zee-Bees fell behind in the bottom of the 6th and were unable to mount a comeback despite Brayden Duran and Michael Gonzalez reaching base.
Monchie Gunter V took the loss for the Zee-Bees. The hurler went one-third of an inning, surrendering five runs (four earned) on one hit, striking out one and walking three. Andrew Mitchell stepped on the mound first for Zion-Benton Varsity Zee-Bees. The hurler allowed five hits and one run over five innings, striking out five and walking none.
Gonzalez and Duran were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in one run for the Zee-Bees.
