Antioch, IL — Today’s game against Antioch Sequoits was a heartbreaker for Zion-Benton, as they lost the lead late in a 3-2 defeat at Antioch Community High School. The game was tied at two in the top of the fifth when one run scored on a questionable balk.
The pitching was strong on both sides with the Zee-Bees sitting down six.
The Zee-Bees tied the game in the bottom of the third thanks to a steal of home by Brayden Graham, and a single by Michael Gonzalez.
Mikey Gonzalez took the loss for Zion-Benton. The right-handed pitcher went seven innings, surrendering three runs (two earned) on seven hits, striking out six and walking one.
Gonzalez led the Zee-Bees with one run batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Brayden Duran had two hits in three at bats. Brayden Graham added another hit for the Zee-Bees offense.
Zion-Benton plays at home on Monday against Mundelein in their next game.
